The School of Natural and Rural Systems Management

Understanding our natural and rural environments and the way in which we impact upon them is critical for the future of the planet. For many species, possibly even our own, that understanding could be the difference between survival and extinction.

The School of Natural and Rural Systems Management offers programs that enable our graduates to impact the international food and fibre business, manage the natural environment and mould rural communities for the future. The School focuses on biologically, economically and socially sustainable approaches to management.

The School of Natural and Rural Systems Management has around 800 Student Load Units and teaches several thousand students at some time or other over a range of programs across both Gatton and St Lucia Campuses. The School also offers a number of programs via distance education.

As one of four Schools of study in the Faculty of Natural Resources, Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences, the School is unique in that it has no specialised facilities. Instead the School relies on its extensive industry networks to provide the special areas in which students can practise and develop their managerial skills.
