Welcome to the Neonatal and Infant Therapy Interest Group (NITIG) website. The focus of the Neonatal and Infant Therapy Interest Group is on feeding, growth, and early developmental issues for neonates and infants.
All interested health professionals and researchers are welcome to join free-of charge.
Neonatal and Infant Therapy Interest Group meetings occur quarterly in February, May, August, and November.
Meetings take place via video conference, hosted by the Children’s Nutrition Research Centre at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Brisbane. The meetings are 2 hours in duration and include presentations from health professionals around Australia on new research, clinical practice, and collaboration initiatives. Members receive a newsletter after each meeting and also receive regular industry-based updates on news and events via email.
The Neonatal and Infant Therapy Interest Group aims to allow members the opportunity to share information regarding:
- Useful therapy literature and resources
- Professional development opportunities
- Interesting case studies
- Workplace initiatives
The Neonatal and Infant Therapy Interest Group also aims to provide therapists the opportunity to:
- Seek information and feedback from their peers
- Share research findings
- Establish links for cross-institutional research projects
To join the interest group, please click on the 'Become a member' link on the webpage and submit a registration form.
If you wish to register a new site to join the video conferences please ensure that BOTH the “site coordinator form” AND the “video conference site registration form” are filled in and sent to nitig@uq.edu.au. Please note that the NITIG will not be responsible for any costs for groups taking part in the video conferences.
The NITIG is free to join and is run by professionals who volunteer their time.
Where it all began.
The Neonatal and Infant Therapy Interest Group was established in November 2006 by staff from the Childrens Nutrition Research Centre and Royal Childrens Hospital in Brisbane. Since its inception the group has grown to a 600 strong membership base (and growing) with meetings now being broadcast to 42 sites around Australia and New Zealand.
