The School is one of Australia's leading providers of postgraduate research training in the agricultural, natural resource and food sciences disciplines. Our location in the sub-tropics and our proximity to Asia and the Pacific creates unique opportunities for our research and teaching. Our graduates provide local and national industries with the informed expertise that is now essential in a competitive market place, and our postgraduate training and research programs have achieved international recognition and acclaim.
The expertise of staff in the School falls into three major teaching and research areas, Soil and Water Science, Crop Science (agronomy, agricultural biotechnology, genetics and plant breeding, horticulture), and Food Science.
The School provides a science-based but practical approach to teaching, with a focused view of the specific research needs of the agricultural, environmental and food industries. Our training equips our graduates to serve these industries in a way that meets their production goals in an ecologically sustainable manner. There is no doubt that the world population will continue to increase in the future, and that the demand for clean nutritious food produced in an environmentally sustainable manner will also increase. The School of Land, Crop and Food Sciences provides the leadership and expertise to meet these future challenges, and if you have chosen a course offered by our School, you will have the opportunity to be one of these leaders of the future.
