 | Profile | |
The Advanced Water Management Centre (AWMC) is an international centre of excellence in innovative wastewater technology and management with expertise in education, research and consulting. The AWMC research and operations relate mainly to effluent water treatment, but in this broad topic, we conduct both laboratory and full-scale research involving advanced microbiology, process simulation, control and resource. Members of the AWMC consult and collaborate with high-profile partners such as the Australian Magnesium Corporation, BP, Theiss and Brisbane Water.
Research Areas include:
- Biological Nutrient Removal
- Anaerobic Treatment
- Microbiology
- Integrated and Novel Wastewater Treatment
- Biofilms and Mass-Transfer
- Modelling, Monitoring and Control
Specific examples of work in these areas can be seen in the research projects or refer to the website link below.
The Centre was established as a Strategic Research Cluster in July 1996, with major funding from the University and the CRC WMPC and significant additional industry and government funding. We are now a faculty centre within Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology Faculty at The University of Queensland, with an internationally recognised track record.
