 Biography

Associate Professor Jill Wilson is Head of the School of Social Work and Applied Human Sciences.

Her research areas relate to:

  • supervision, adolescent sexuality and effective service delivery for young women as parents;
  • the impact of legislative changes in relation to substitute decision making on older people;
  • development of communities in aged care facilities;
  • costs of care and methods of service delivery for older people;
  • policy analyses and developing effective programs for young woman with high support needs in relation to their menstrual and fertility management.

    She is Chair of the Uniting Care Board, the service arm of the Uniting Church in Queensland. Uniting Care is the largest non-government provider of community care in Australia, including Blue Care, Lifeline Community Care and the Uniting Health Care Hospitals. In this role, Jill is a member of the boards of Blue Care and Lifeline Community Care and on the executive of Uniting Care Australia. She has been a member of the predecessors of the Uniting Care Board and been involved in the development of the governance structures and service models of the various services.

    Previously, Jill has been involved in establishing the Red Hill Paddington Community Centre and the Young Parents Program in Brisbane. She has participated in continuing education programs for a wide range of groups including Queensland Teachers Union, the Department of Family Services and Aboriginal and Islander Affairs, ethnic community workers, Brisbane Youth Service, and Social Work Departments at the Royal Brisbane and Princess Alexandra Hospitals.
