 Biography

Jacki's research focus is on applications of mathematics, statistics, and computing to solving various real world problems. She has a broad academic background and has applied her expertise to the problems of finding genes that cause disease and to understanding the decision-making of air traffic controllers, how different computer interfaces aid them, and how these affect safety.

Jacki received her honours degree and PhD from the Department of Mathematics at the Australian National University. She worked for the CRC the Discovery of Genes for Common Human Diseases for three years before joining the ARC Centre for Complex Systems at The University of Queensland in 2005. Her research interests focus around modelling, simulation, and statistical computation. She has applied this in the field of genetics and more recently in air traffic control.
