	Biography

Professor Whittaker is working to bridge the gap between fundamental physical sciences and applications in the field of new materials, in particular biomaterials.

My current research is involved with polymer physical chemistry, and the use and development of NMR and other techniques to study structure, order and motion in solids and semi-solids. Enabling skills are in the fields of characterization, polymerization, degradation, polymer and small molecule transport, mechanical properties, surface phenomena and interactions with biological systems. The key application areas currently being investigated are biomaterials/nanomaterials, and polymers for photolithography. The Whittaker Group consists of 40 scientists working in synthesis and application of polymers.
