	Biography

The theme of Dr Ward's research program in the field of speech pathology has been the assessment and rehabilitation of the motor functions of voice, speech and swallowing.

Dr. Ward is an Associate Professor in the Division of Speech Pathology. She has published extensively during her career, with two edited books, 24 book chapters, 72 refereed publications, 16 published abstracts, a commercially available swallowing outcome measure “The Royal Brisbane Outcome Measure for Swallowing” and a commercially available Patient Education Video for Laryngectomy Patients (both published & distributed by QHealth) to her name. Dr. Ward holds competitive grant funding across a number of research fields including telehealth, head and neck surgery, motor speech disorders, and dysphagia. Her research has a clinical focus with particular emphasis on projects designed to improve speech and swallowing outcomes in a broad range of surgical and neurogenic populations.
