 Biography

How are CEO remuneration packages constructed? What is the impact of the adoption of international financial reporting standards on Australian companies?

Julie Walker teaches in the area of accounting at both the introductory and advanced levels. Her major research interests centre on the nature of agency problems within organisations and their consequences for financial reporting outcomes. She has particular interest in accounting problems within firms in the Australian mining industry. Current research projects focus on the determinants of executive remuneration packages and the valuation relevance of exploration costs for mining firms. Julie has published in the Journal of International Accounting, Auditing and Taxation, Accounting and Finance and The Australian Journal of Management.

Prior to enrolling in the Doctoral program in the School of Commerce, Julie was a management accountant for a large Australian food manufacturer.
