 Biography

Dr Martin Veidt's research interests are in general continuum mechanics, with a special focus on materials and structural components characterisation, using dynamic measurement techniques. This includes: structural health monitoring, guided wave ultrasonics, acousto ultrasonics, acoustic emission, phase locked loop resonant technique, ultrasonic fatigue, impact mechanics and fracture mechanics.

He received his Dr sc techn from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich in 1991 and his Dipl Masch Ing ETH from there in 1986. His current research projects are in the fields of:

• Structural Health Monitoring
• Detection and Characterisation of Laminar Defects in Composites
• Durability of Integrated Piezoceramic Transducers
• Mechanical Behaviour of Composites
