 Biography

Andrew graduated from The University of Queensland School of Veterinary Science in 1999 and completed a PhD focusing on the pathophysiology and prevention of equine laminitis, under the supervision of Professor Chris Pollitt. Andrew completed a residency in large animal internal medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, and subsequently worked there as a lecturer in large animal internal medicine. He returned to UQ in 2009 and is currently Senior Lecturer in Equine Medicine at The University of Queensland School of Veterinary Science. Andrew is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, and a member of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists.
Andrew’s research interests include:
- The pathophysiology of laminitis occurring as a consequence of sepsis
- Digital hypothermia for the prevention of laminitis
- Tissue microdialysis and bioenergetics
- Lamellar energy failure in support limb laminitis
- Targeted drug delivery using nanoparticles
