I focus on the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) / education-related research in dentistry and oral health. Current scholarship of teaching and learning projects include:
- Collaborative assessment & feedback project with UQ Human Movement Studies & UQ Pharmacy: enhancing access and quality of feedback via electronic feedback using text and audio comments (eFTAC)
- Collaborative community-integrated learning project with UQ Nursing & Midwifery: enhancing students as evolving professionals and collaborative members of the healthcare team - an interprofessional community-integrated collaborative learning approach in aged-care
- Students as evolving professionals (EP) – the implication of early professional socialization and professional identity on professional development
- Students as reflective practitioners - enhancing clinical practice and professional development through reflective learning
- Students as collaborative team members - developing team skills via creative learning strategies
- Students as collaborative team members – interprofessional EP teams and peer mentoring
- Students as skilled communicators – developing confident and effective communication skills through embedded learning activities
- Developing students as EP through community-integrated learning
- Developing students as EP – assessment as learning
Current discipline-based research projects include:- Collaborative project with Bethany Christian Care: improving oral health-quality of life among residents at a residential aged-care facility through oral health education, risk assessment, prevention and management planning
- Oral health beliefs and oral hygiene practices of oral health vs. non-oral health professionals
- Rapid assessment of plaque acid production
- CPP-ACP as a plaque repellent
- Interventions aimed at changing the oral environment and the oral microbiota
