Dr Nick Timmins    Adjunct Research Fellow

	Biography

My current research focuses on clinical scale manufacture of blood cells and mesenchymal stem cells, and developing a deeper understanding of how blood is produced in our bodies.

After completing PhD research on the development of in vitro tumour models at the University of Queensland, I moved on to a post-doctoral position at the University Hospital of Basel in Switzerland. Here I worked on the design and development of a unique bioreactor system for the cultivation of tissue engineering products. Returning to UQ in 2006, I am now Team Leader for Cellular Therapies within the Centre of Systems and Synthetic biology.
