 Biography

I am a biomedical engineer with a general interest in developing novel medical diagnostic, and disease managment systems with the goal of genuinely improving the health outcomes in people in rural Australia, Australia, and globally.

I have a strong background in electrical, electronics and biomedical engineering, having completed a BE (electrical) in 2004, followed by a PhD in Biomedical Engineering, jointly between ITEE and the UQ School of Medicine. Between February 2009, and Dec 2010, I was employed as a Research Officer in the Centre for Medical Diagnostic Technologies Queensland (MedTeQ). Since January 2011, I have been working as a Lecturer in Electrical Engineering and Medical Electronics in the School of IT and Electrical Engineering.

My recent research has been primarily in the application of electronic instrumentation, and non-linear mathematics to pediatric and adult sleep medicine. I am currently developing an accelerometry based electronic instrumentation system for studying movements during sleep, and how such movements correlate with physiological and disease states. This work involves extensive collaboration with a multidisciplinary team which includes engineering academics, clinical scientists, and health professionals across UQ, The Mater Children’s Hospital, and The Prince Charles Hospital.
