Heng Tao is a Professor of Computer Science in the School of Information Technology & Electrical Engineering (ITEE) at the University of Queensland (UQ). He obtained his BSc with 1st class Honours and PhD from Department of Computer Science, National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2000 and 2004 respectively. He then joined the University of Queensland as a Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Reader, and became a Professor in late 2011. His research interests mainly include Multimedia/Mobile/Web Search, and Big Data Management on spatial, temporal, multimedia and social media databases. Heng Tao has published and served on program committees in most prestigious international publication venues of interests. He is the winner of Chris Wallace Award for outstanding Research Contribution in 2010 conferred by Computing Research and Education Association, Australasia. He also holds a position of Visiting Professor in Nagoya University. He is an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering.
