Powerful brain stimulation techniques, plasticity and rehabilitation

Dr Siobhan Schabrun completed her undergraduate degree in physiotherapy at the Unviersity of South Australia before compelteing a PhD in the field of brain stimulation and plasticity at the University of Adelaide. Siobhan's research utilises powerful brain stimulation techniques such as Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to examine the role of cortical plasticity in neurological and musculoskeletal conditions. This work focuses on understanding mechanisms and developing new therapies for a range of conditions including chronic pain, incontinence, stroke and focal dystonia. This is an emerging and exciting field with the potential to make a significant difference to rehabilitation in the future.
