Training, skills and workforce productivity; Equity and Diversity; Cross cultural management Amanda Roan is a lecturer in the Organisation and Communication cluster. Amanda's teaching areas include Organisational Behaviour, Human Resource Management, Training and Development and Organisational Change and Reform. Her primary research interests are organisational downsizing, gender and employment, industrial relations and training systems. She has published in journals such as the Journal of Industrial Relations and Employee Relations in the UK. In 2000 she was part of a research group that was contracted by the Premiers Council on Women to undertake research for the report on women's employment opportunities in Queensland - Beyond the Pink Collar. Her doctoral thesis explored issues surrounding the training and skills development policies as applied in Australian workplaces. Amanda has presented papers at the European Group for Organisational Studies, the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management and the Association of Industrial Relations Academics of Australian and New Zealand conferences. Before commencing an academic career Amanda gained 15 years work experience in the public and private sectors.
