 Biography

My work is primarily concerned with the design of new hardware and techniques for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

I was born and schooled in Leicestershire, UK, before attending the University of Nottingham to study for a Masters degree in Physics and Astronomy and was awarded a first class degree with honours. I then remained in Nottingham for my PhD project at the Sir Peter Mansfield Magnetic Resonance Centre, under the supervision of Professor Richard Bowtell and in collaboration with Magnex Scientific Ltd. (now part of Varian Inc.). The title of my thesis was "Improved Equipment and Techniques for Dynamic Shimming in High Field MRI". After completion, I was awarded a fellowship to work for Prof. Bowtell for some months further. In April 2008 I came to Brisbane and the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering at UQ to work with Professor Stuart Crozier.
