 Biography

Dr Stuart Phinn’s research interests are in: Biophysical Remote Sensing, Remote Sensing Education and Training, Spatial Analysis, Statistics and Modelling.

He received his PhD from the University of California – Santa Barbara/San Diego State University in 1997. His biophysical remote sensing interests are concerned with:

  • Environmental monitoring and management applications (in coastal wetlands, coastal estuaries, tropical forests, coral reefs)
  • Multi-scale and multi-temporal analyses
  • Field to image data links
  • BRDF measurement and processing
  • Algorithm development (hyperspectral, high-spatial, imaging radar)

His current research projects are in the areas of:
  • CRCs for Coastal Zones, Estuaries and Waterways/Rainforest CRC
