 Biography

Dr Peake’s research interests are mainly in the field of exercise immunology. His particular interests include:

- inflammatory responses to exercise-induced muscle damage
- relationship between inflammation and oxidative stress
- signal transduction pathways in skeletal muscle


Dr Peake’s current research projects include:

- the efficacy of fish oil supplementation in mediating tissue inflammation
- the benefits of supplementation with probiotics on immune responses to exercise
- glycaemic responses to exercise and meal consumption
- the role of toll-like receptors in muscle damage and aging
- regulation of skeletal muscle protein with exercise training in diabetes and kidney failure
