Director of Queensland Clinical Trials & Biostatistics centre A/Prof. Sanjoy Paul is the Director of the newly created Queensland Clinical Trials & Biostatistics Centre (QCTBC, http://www.sph.uq.edu.au/qctbc), based at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane. Dr Paul is a highly skilled clinical trialist and clinical biostatistician with an international reputation. He has a strong methodological background and research experience in interdisciplinary fields with extensive international academic and pharmaceutical collaborations. Prior to creating this academic research centre within the School of Population Health at the University of Queensland, he was the Head of the Statistics and Modelling Group of the Diabetes Trials Unit at the University of Oxford.
Dr Paul has a commendable publication record in highly acclaimed research journals including the New England Journal of Medicine and the British Medical Journal. He has designed multinational mega trials in cardiovascular & metabolic diseases, and has written study protocols and statistical analysis plans for over 70 large clinical studies. His current work includes the design and analysis plans for early phase and late phase clinical trials, clinical exploration of cardiometabolic benefits of GLP-1R against exenatide, assessment & validation of new biomarkers and disease prediction models in metabolic diseases, and the development of robust systems to predict hypoglycemia in diabetes patients. Dr. Paul is now developing core research capabilities in the fields of proteomics and metabolomics, and novel statistical methods to analyse these complex high-dimensional data in the fields of diabetes and oncology.
