 Biography

Research Themes: Pedagogy and Pedagogical Practice (esp. pedagogical content knowledge and reasoning); Arts-Based Pedagogies; University Teaching and Learning (esp. disciplinarity, threshold concepts); Research Methods: Design Research; Action Research; Grounded Theory; Narrative Theory.

I lecture in the School of Education at UQ in Primary, Secondary & Higher Education programs. I convene courses on The Arts & Creativity in Learning, Pedagogical Principles & Practice, and Theories of Learning for Teaching.

My research is undertaken in school and university settings, and my current research activities include the study of: pedagogical content knowledge and reasoning, arts-based pedagogies, disciplinary teaching and learning in university contexts (via analyses of threshold concepts and troublesome knowledge), and transformative learning.

My research is funded by an UQ Early Career Research Grant, an ALTC (Australian Learning & Teaching Council) Competitive Grant, and an ARC Linkage Grant.
