Associate Professor Brian Miller is a general surgeon and lecturer in the University of Queensland Department of Surgery, based at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. His special academic interests are in colorectal surgery, trauma management and teaching. He was raised in Kenya, obtained his medical degree at King's College Hospital in London and was a surgical resident in Canada before migrating to Australia in 1988.

Miller’s Visceral Retainer, a silastic, flexible, radiopaque, re-sterilisable visceral retainer.
"The Little Red Book" , a surgical teaching tool which started 25 years ago as a compilation of his own notes in preparation for the surgical fellowship examination and is now sold worldwide. The similarity of the lists to common topics in oral tests is apparent.
His research interests include:
Clinical Studies in various aspects of colorectal disease: volvulus, colon cancer perforation, colovesical fistula and pre-op R/T for rectal cancer.
Longitudinal studies by pre and post testing of Surgical Knowledge in medical students.
