 Biography

Dr Michael Macrossan's research interests are in: hypersonic gas dynamics, rarefied gas dynamics, computational fluid mechanics, direct simulation Monte-Carlo methods for rarefied gas flow, DSMC for near-continuum flows and Kinetic theory methods for continuum gas flows.

He received his PhD from the University of London in 1983. In 1991, he was Visiting Assistant Professor at the Graduate Aeronautical Laboratory, California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, California. In 1995, Dr Macrossan was Visiting Research Scientist at the Institute for Computer Applications in Science and Engineering, NASA Langley Research Center, Hampton, Virginia, and in 2004, he was Visiting Scientist at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India.
