 Biography

Anthony Leow is a PhD candidate with the School of Human Movement Studies

Anthony completed his bachelor’s degree, majoring in PE and Sport pedagogy at the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore before teaching physical education at a government primary school. At NTU, he won the prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Gold Medal for being first in general proficiency throughout course of study and for attaining first class honours. He was also awarded the Singapore National Olympic Council Gold Medal for being the best trainee teacher in physical education specialising in sports studies. He pursued his interest in research while juggling with his teaching responsibilities. In 2006, he received the AIESEP Young Scholar award at the AIESEP World Congress held in Finland. He is currently pursuing his PhD studies under the tutelage of Professor Doune Macdonald and Dr. Louise McCuaig. His project "The uptake of public health policies by schools: The case of Eat Well Be Active" researches on the interface between public health policy and education policy under the “Eat Well Be Active” project of Queensland Health.
