 Biography

David Jenkins is a senior lecturer in the School of Human Movement Studies; he joined the School in 1990 and has graduated ten PhD students and one MSc student. He has over 60 papers in peer-reviewed journals.

Dr Jenkins has spent a number of years examining various aspects relating to the physiology of high intensity exercise and exercise nutrition. In recent years, however, he has developed a research interest in public health, with a particular focus on Indigenous health. Dr Jenkins is a principal investigator on an NHMRC-funded project that aims to promote physical activity and improve the health of young Torres Strait Islanders, in addition to an ARC-funded grant that is examining activity levels of primary school children.
