 Biography

Dr Clair Hughes is a Lecturer in Higher Education in the Teaching and Educational Development Institute, a central unit whose activities are designed to enhance teaching and learning at the university. Her research interests include assessment design and practice, assessment policy and institutional, curriculum and staff development.

Clair has worked as an educator in a number of different settings – primary schools, education authorities, syllabus development agencies and now higher education. She currently researches in the following areas:
• Assessment practice: Course coordinators - their confidence in undertaking assessment responsibilities and the sources of influence on their practice
• Assessment practice: The embedding of graduate attributes in curriculum and assessment
• Institutional development: The impact of funded teaching and learning projects
