	Biography

Obaid Hamid is interested in English as a second/foreign language; English and English-in-education policy in the context of national development; social perspectives on second language acquisition; the sociology of English learning and language and migration.

Obaid Hamid joined UQ in 2010. Previously he taught at the University of Dhaka, where he had studied English for his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He obtained an MA in TESOL from Deakin University and PhD in Applied Linguistics from the University of Queensland in 2000 and 2009 respectively.
