 Biography

Her research interests are in developmental neuroscience. Her main interests are in the development of the retina and more specifically in the development of the networks of inner retinal neurons that drive the periodic spontaneous activity described as ‘retinal waves’. This periodic spontaneous activity is seen in many parts of the developing nervous system.

Sally Firth has an appointment as a Lecturer in the School of Pharmacy. She joined the University in 2005 after returning from USA, where she was a Postdoctoral Fellow: initially with David Marshak in the Department of Neurobiology & Anatomy at University of Texas Medical School in Houston (1999-2002), and finally with Marla Feller in the Neurobiology Section of the Biology Department at University of California in San Diego (2002-2005).
