 Biography

Dr John Doherty's research interests are in parameterisation and uncertainty analysis of environmental models.

He received his PhD from the University of Queensland in 1987. Over the last 10 years, he has written a suite of software (e.g. PEST) to expedite parameter estimation and predictive uncertainty analysis in environmental modelling – particularly ground and surface water simulation. Some of this software is now considered the industry standard for model calibration and predictive analysis worldwide. Dr Doherty's current research projects are in the fields of:

• Model predictive uncertainty analysis
• Heterogeneity in groundwater model calibration
