Sustainable energy systems including hydrogen economy, fuel cell technologies, fuel processing. Before moving to Australia I was Principal Scientist with BG plc and Advantica Technologies in the UK, where I led research in fuel cells. My current research interest covers new and renewable energy technologies, sustainable and alternative energy systems; stationary power generation, co-generation and distributed power generation technologies; all fuel cell types, particularly SOFC, MCFC, PEM (SPFC), small-scale and micro-fuel cells. Also, the use of fuel cells in transportation and mobile application; hydrogen generation, storage and transport, and hydrocarbon fuel processing. In collaboration with QUT I am developing advanced fuel processing systems based on microchannel reactors with support from Queensland Government and LC Energy, and exploring non-precious metal catalysts for PEM fuel cells with QUT and the National Physical Laboratory in India. From 2006 to 2009 was Director of the CSIRO National Hydrogen Materials Alliance and in 2008 I was chairman of the World Hydrogen Energy Conference. I am founding President of the Australian Association for Hydrogen Energy, and on the editorial boards of the Journal of Power Sources and the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy.
