Dr Marie-Louise Dick is a Senior Lecturer in General Practice in the School of Medicine, and works part time in clinical practice in Brisbane. After graduating from Medicine at the University of Queensland, Marie-Louise spent three years working in the public hospital system in Queensland, a year working overseas in the United Kingdom, and then returned to Brisbane to pursue general practice.
She was awarded her Fellowship in the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 1993, and a Masters of Public Health at The University of Queensland in 1997.
Marie-Louise commenced employment at the University of Queensland in 1995, and since then has been heavily involved in the development and delivery of the medical (MBBS) program. She spent 6 years chairing the Population & Preventive Health Domain – one of four domains of learning in the 4-year post-graduate medical program, currently coordinates the Year 3 General Practice & Community Core Clinical Rotation., and since July 2004, has been acting Head of the Discipline of General Practice.
Marie-Louise’s research interests include women’s health (especially infertility, cervical cancer screening), medical education, prevention in general practice, emergencies in general practice, and management of chronic diseases in general practice.
