 Biography

Dr Denis Collins’ research interests include the history of music theory and renaissance and baroque counterpoint. He has published extensively on the history of canon and related imitative forms, with particular emphasis on Italian music theory, English counterpoint and the canons of Bach.

He studied Music and Classical History at University College Dublin and was a Fulbright Scholar at Stanford University, USA, where he received A.M. and PhD degrees.

He lectures in music history and techniques in the School of Music.
