Dr Carlos Cáceres's research interests are in: Micromechanics of deformation and fracture of Mg and Al casting alloys, Pseudoelastic behaviour of Mg-Al alloys, Hardness behaviour of Mg-Al alloys, Strengthening effects in single crystals of Mg-Al and Mg-Zn, Hall-Petch effects in Mg-Zn alloys and Microstructure of Al-Cu-Si-Mg casting alloys (Alloy 320). Dr Cáceres was born in the Patagonia, and he grew up in Uspallata, a small town in the Andes Mountains, mid west of Argentina. He worked as a Researcher at McMaster University, Canada, for several years in the 1980s after receiving his PhD from the University of Cordoba, Argentina, in 1980. He migrated to Australia in 1991.
His current research projects are in the fields of: - Solid solution hardening and softening in Mg alloys
- The strength of high-pressure die cast AZ91 alloy
- Low strain behaviour of Mg alloys
