IT in Business, particularly Agribusiness supply and value chains Kim is a Senior Lecturer with the University of Queensland and the Coordinator of this course, She has spent much of her career in industry associated with IT in agriculture of one sort or another, joining UQ’s Technology & Innovation Management Center at St Lucia in 2000 before joining NRSM in 2001 to pursue her research interests in the development, application and impact of high tech tools in land management and in commercial business.
Kim has a particular interest in Information and Knowledge Management and the impact of the internet on business, as well as Geographical Information Systems and Managerial Decision Support Systems. Her area of specialisation is in Agribusiness – recent projects include “The impact of Ebusiness Technologies on the Grains Value Chain”, “The development of a Multicriteria DSS as an Ebusiness Evaluation tool”, “The impact of high tech tools in the agricultural production sector”, and “Innovative communication technologies and the development of agribusiness clusters”.
Kim teaches ENVM3503 (Managerial Decisions Support Systems), ABUS3005 (Agribusiness Management III - Market Research in Asia) and has just developed two new online courses for 2003 – a postgraduate Masters in Agribusiness course ABUS7001 (eAgribusiness) and an undergraduate course ABUS1003 (Agribusiness in the eLandscape). She completed a Grad Certificate in Higher Education in 2002 focusing on developing tools to enhance online learning. The external mode of delivery of her 2 new eAgribusiness courses and ENVM3503 course in 2003 will be making use of some of those tools.
