| | Interest is in sustaining agricultural production systems through efficient and effective use of agricultural inputs and resource management practices to produce food and fibre in an environmentally responsible manner, so that resource quality is maintained while producing quality agricultural outputs. The beneficial and safe use of resources recovered form other human activities eg water, indudtrial waste or by products and long term maintenance or improvement in soil carbon concentration are important components of this interest. Further, the capacity of agriculture generally and production practices for individual crops/enterprises crops to adapt in response to climate change is integral to this interest. Agricultural sustainability is considered to be both a subset and contributor to wider concepts of landscape sustainability and community sustainability. |
