My primary research interests concern: Rural Medical Practitioner recruitment and retention – looking at personality factors which influence, Indigenous Mental Health – looking at the needs of aboriginal people with psychiatric problems, and their families or carers, and ways to help them more effectively, Medical education, including the best ways to examine student performance, and how groups of students. Currently involved in a research project, in conjunction with a GP Training Consortium, investigating factors relevant to rural medical practitoner recruitment and retention.
Also involved in an ARC Linkage grant with DPI and local Industry partner, evaluating rural community resilience.
Previous initial doctoral research concerned the immunology of coeliac disease.
Since then research interests varied, and include disability and diving, prostate disease and peer based learning.
I am currently involved in the development and implementation of a Multiprofessional Education programme within the Toowoomba Rural Clinical School.
