Research interest is epidemiology and understanding of plant pathogenic fungi Dr Olufemi Akinsanmi obtained his PhD from the University of Queensland (UQ) and was awarded the UQ Dean's Commendation for Outstanding Research Higher Degree for his PhD thesis entitled, “Etiology and diversity of Fusarium species causing head blight of wheat in Australia”. He did his PhD with Dr Sukumar Chakraborty (CSIRO Plant Industry, Brisbane) as the principal supervisor. Femi took up a postdoctoral research position with the CRC for Tropical Plant Protection/School of Integrative Biology to work on husk spot disease in Macadamia with Dr Andre Drenth in 2004. Before joining UQ, Femi worked on tropical diseases including diseases of soybean at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria, from where he obtained his B. Agric. (Hons) in 1992 and MPhil (Plant Sciences) in 1997 degrees.
