The club’s trips allow members to enjoy the outdoors and meet others with like interests. Please read the following before taking part in club trips.
Trips
Planned walks and rock climbing trips are listed on the calendar page and they are also organised on the message board. If you want to suggest or organise a trip, go right ahead - the message board is the place to do it.
Of course, if you decide not to come on a trip (having indicated that you would) please notify the organiser as soon as possible.
Responsibilities
Please consider your responsibilities as a member. The formalities are kept to a minimum and there are generally no 'trip leaders' as such but rather members who are keen to organise, coordinate and plan a trip. It is intended that club members get together and organise trips with others of like capabilities and fitness.
Trips advertised on the calendar are organised and planned by a club member who is responsible for route planning, pre-trip hazard/weather checking, ensuring necessary maps and safety equipment are taken and transport arrangements. For trips organised more informally over the message board, it is up to members to ensure they have a thorough understanding of the trip and what is involved. Where in doubt, contact the organsier.
Preparation for a trip
1. Contact organiser via email or message board in advance of a trip. Please try to avoid leaving it until within a day of the trip as this can make transport arrangements difficult.
2. Ensure you are adequately equipped for the activity with suitable clothing, hat, rain-gear, sunscreen, water, food, torch, appropriate footwear and other gear (amoung other things – see below).
3. Leave a record of your intentions with a responsible person.
For an idea of what to bring on trips, download the list below (This is a general guide and by no means exhaustive. Other good guides and safety information is available from the links page)

Transport
Before a trip, those wanting to car pool meet outside the front of building 61A at UQ unless pick-ups can be arranged. It is also often conveniant to pick up outside Roma Street Train Station in the city (see maps). Car pooling is organised on the message board before any trips, and it is generally expected that passengers chip in for petrol.
