About Us
The UQMC aspires to provide a supportive and respectful environment for all participating climbers and bush walkers regardless of level of experience. The club expects each member to assist co-members whenever required and to respect club procedures in order to evenly distribute job responsibility among club members. High safety standards and ethical standards, such as respect for the environment and the wider public and local communities are valued by the club.
Where and When
The club meets at the Kangaroo Point Cliffs from 6-9pm on most Tuesday and Thursday, please check the Message Board to confirm when ropes are setup. We meet all year round but only setup during semester, weather permitting, though the club tends to dissipate on various trips during holiday times. Just swing through the bottom of the cliffs one night and look for the UQMC banner, or failing that anyone in a club shirt.
Rock climbing and bushwalking trips are organised throughout the year, on some weekends and on student and public holidays (eg. mid-semester, mid-year). Popular places include the Glass House Mountains, Giraween, Scenic Rim and the Blue Mountains.
