Wait for an acceptance from your host university

It can take a few months before an official acceptance letter arrives from your host university.  UQ Abroad will do its best to keep you up to date on the progess of your application however the processing of applications at our partner university is out of our control so you will need to be patient.

Acceptance packages from our partner universities usually arrive in:

  • October for students going on exchange in Semester 1 and
  • May for students going on exchange in Semester 2.

Please do not contact your host university directly. All enquires must be through UQ Abroad until you are accepted.

Most acceptance packages will be sent directly to UQ Abroad so we will contact you via email as soon as it arrives. If it is sent to you directly you need to provide UQ Abroad with a copy of your host university acceptance letter.

Your arrival date and the date of classes starting are available either on your host institution's website, or it may be written on your offer letter. The acceptance package usually contains information on pre-arrival, semester dates, orientation, accommodation, health insurance and course timetabling but it does vary between universities. Some partner institutions place this information on their website so don't forget to check it out!

Once you have received your acceptance you need to book your flights and obtain your student visa ASAP.
