UQ offers a number of scholarships to UQ Abroad students. Some scholarships are worth $5,000 each and some are worth $1,000 each. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit (cumulative GPA in current program and units completed) or to students attending strategic partner institutions.
Application
There is no application form for these scholarships. All students applying for their first exchange with UQ Abroad are automatically considered for a scholarship as long as their application has been submitted by the deadline. The UQ Abroad application deadlines are:
- last working day in May for Semester 1 of the following year
- last working day in October for Semester 2 of the following year
Please note:
- Students applying for a second exchange, after returning to UQ for at least a semester, from their first UQ Abroad experience, will be eligible to be considered for a scholarship.
- Students going on consecutive exchanges (to two different host institutions) or going on exchange to the same institution for two semesters will only be considered for a scholarship in their first semester of exchange.

Determining your eligibility for a scholarship:

Your GPA will be calculated on the day results are released for Semester One. These results are the next available results after the application deadline. The number of units completed will be based on how many units you have completed when results are released for semester 1.
Scholarships awarded for Semester Two of the following year will be based on the results of your current program (GPA and number of units completed) at the time of application. Your GPA will be calculated on the day results are released for Semester Two. These results are the next available results after the application deadline. The number of units completed will be based on how many units you have completed when results are released for semester 2.
