For Law students: As UQ does not have a direct exchange agreement with the School of Law, please do NOT select courses with the following pre-requisite:

This course is only open to visiting students coming through a direct exchange with the School of Law (this includes Erasmus students on a Law Exchange).

-  In August, Edinburgh hosts the largest arts festival in the world - Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Or start the new year in (Scottish) style at the world-famous Hogmanay Street Party.


- The Old Town, where the university is situated, is a beautiful medieval part of Edinburgh and also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Teviot Row House on main campus is the oldest purpose-built student union building since 1889.

- Famous alumni include naturalist Charles Darwin, philosopher David Hume, inventor Alexander Graham Bell, authors Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Robert Louis Stevenson, J.M. Barrie, former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown and...socialite Pippa Middleton!

- Secure a seat in the back room of The Elephant House with a view of the Edinburgh Castle. The cafe has been the place of inspiration of authors JK Rowling, Ian Rankin, Alexander McCall-Smith and many more.

- The film One Day, filmed in Edinburgh, is about a boy and a girl who met on the day they graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1988, and the story follows them on the same day for 23 years.
