The academic year at Utrecht University is divided into 2 semesters and each semester is divided into 2 blocks/periods/terms.

Students need to select at least 2 courses per block.

Students can take courses in up to two faculties.

Students can also apply to study at University College Utrecht or University College Roosevelt. These are international honours liberal arts programs of Universiteit Utrecht with their own campuses and housing.  They are taught completely in English and have higher entry requirements than the university as a whole. Students applying to UCU must have a GPA of 5.0 or higher and those applying to UCR must have a GPA of 5.5 or higher. Entry is competetive.  Students are not able to mix courses at one of the University Colleges with regular Utrecht courses.

Restricted Fields of Study: Undergraduate level students are NOT allowed to study postgraduate level courses while on exchange at Utrecht.

Students can choose between SSH short term accommodation and longer term shared accommodation. Students wishing to apply for SSH short term housing should apply early as it is allocated on a first come, first served basis.
