Josh Rendall: University of Exeter (Semester 2, 2010- Semester 1, 2011)It is often a claim that people who go on exchange overseas use apparent cliché comments such as ‘It was the best thing I have ever accomplished in my life’ or ‘I made so many great friends that it’s hard to leave them’. Well I can definitely claim, that it is not a cliché and that everything you wanted from an exchange comes to fruition, if not even more so.
Rohan Datar: University of Birmingham (Semester 1, 2011)I had always believed that being an exchange student would be the best way to travel and experience a new country, the only question was when, where and how? I had dreamed of England for a very long time and so after a few months of thinking about where to go, the choice became obvious.
Rosemary Elkins: University of Sussex (Semester 1, 2011)During my exchange in Brighton, I created a life that I didn’t want to leave. Studying in the UK offers a world of possibility when it comes to travelling around Europe. It provides the comfort of an English speaking country and similar culture to Australia, however makes it possible to travel throughout Europe on a small budget and within a short time frame.
Marika Pathe: University of Leeds (Semester 1, 2011)I am so pleased that I chose to undertake a semester at the University of Leeds. It not only provided me the opportunity to take subjects that are not offered at UQ but also the chance to see parts of the United Kingdom and Europe.
Ian Samuel Lin: University of Glasgow (Semester 1, 2011)Going on an exchange program with UQ Abroad is definitely an opportunity not to be missed, no matter where you are going. As for myself, I chose the University of Glasgow. Immediately upon setting foot in Glasgow on a cold January morning – it was a wild and windy change from the warm Australian summer I had just left behind.
Annie McCabe: University of Nottingham (Semester 1, 2011)Setting off on my first experience abroad, I was unaware of the number of strong relationships I would return with, both new and old. I was fortunate to experience this journey with my boyfriend and another close friend. At Nottingham University I studied Environmental Science subjects, with very different content to UQ. But the most valuable learning experiences were independence in travelling and confidence when making new acquaintances, invaluable personal traits in both academic and social aspects of life.
Yun Le Linn: University of Manchester (Semester 1, 2011)In many ways, this chance to do a semester in the UK was a dream come true for me. Growing up in the Asia-Pacific region, this side of the world epitomised what I could only read about, or see pictures of, but not experience for myself. Personally, the draw of this land was plentiful, ranging from the musicals at London’s West End to the stunning lochs and bens of the Scottish highlands. In this short five months, the wonders of this land were my reality!
Ying Yi Wan: University of Leeds (Semester 1, 2011)When I first learned of my successful application to do an exchange with the University of Leeds, I was elated. I have always wanted a chance to study at the University of Leeds, not just because it is a prestigious university, but also because I had a hunch that I would really enjoy studying there. I was right. My semester at Leeds was one of the most memorable times of my life, and I was sorry to leave at the end of it.
Wayne Lee: University of Manchester (Semester 1, 2011)I’m currently sitting in my residential hall in Manchester, UK thinking about what I could possibly write in my testimonial and what I could possibly share with you all. I have found it very hard to describe the experience I have had over the past five months (it has truly flown by), but to say the least it has been AWESOME!!! It is undoubtedly, the best semester I’ve had at university, probably one of the best I will have during my life and it is an experience that I will cherish forever.
Sophie Turner: University of Glasgow (Semester 1, 2011)To anyone still deciding whether or not to do an exchange – the answer is yes. I would recommend an exchange semester, especially one at Glasgow, to all but I warn you now to be prepared: it will change you.
Sam Jackson: University of Nottingham (Semester 1, 2011)Nottingham is a great student town with great pubs, excellent clubs and awesome people. Staying on campus in Derby Hall meant non-stop fun: ‘dossing’, going to town and of course participating in the great English pastime: foozball.
Rebecca Coward: University of Nottingham (Semester 1, 2011)Studying in the politics school at Nottingham was a fantastic experience. The wide range of courses on offer is enough without mentioning the impressive program of guest speakers, social events and incredibly supportive teaching staff. The school offers an incredible range of courses across all politics disciplines. I took two British Politics classes and another more general theoretical subject.
Motomu Mishima: University of Leeds (Semester 1, 2011)The time I spent in UK for the last 6 months is unforgettable and it is the best time of my life. Exchange is such a great opportunity to explore the world – gain deeper understanding of other cultures and meet people from all over the world.
Josephine Bremer: University of Edinburgh (Semester 1, 2011)In terms of the academic experience one of the greatest differences is the way the courses are weighted as most of your mark generally depends on how you do in your exams.
Jean Collins: University of Exeter (Semester 1, 2011)All I can say about this is get your preferences in SUPER early and then just hound whoever is your contact with emails until you get a response.

Amanda Kerr: The University of Sheffield (Semester 1, 2011)Sheffield is a student city right in the heart of England and with very few tourists so I was able to get the full British experience! Sheffield is the greenest city in the UK, has the lowest crime rate and is the cheapest to live in

Wesley Whitfield: University of Nottingham (Semester 2, 2010)Being in the East Midlands meant that we were close to almost everywhere. I got to see a West End show in London, eat the best fish and chips in Whitby, and see an entire Yorkshire town revert back to the 1940s.

Lachlan Fleetwood: University of Glasgow (Semester 2, 2010)Don’t believe the shady tales you might hear. It’s a great city (and with only a lot of bias I can say it’s definitely better than Edinburgh!), and the West End in particular (where the uni is) is lots of fun and there is always something happening.

George Lindsay: University of Glasgow (Semester 1, 2010)Glasgow’s law school is very welcoming of incoming exchange students and there is an extensive list of courses which one can take there that are compatible with law electives at UQ. Also, opportunities to study subjects not offered at UQ such as the Forensic Medicine course I took mean there is enough on offer for any law student for at least a semester, if not two!
Guang Guan: University of Exeter (Semester 1, 2010)It was amazing experiencing all the different cultures as it's not often you are able to celebrate Australia Day, American Thanksgiving, Swedish Midsummer and Spanish Carnivale in the space of five months. I now also have many more places where I can crash in my future travels.
Imogen Bermingham: University of Glasgow (Semester 1, 2010)The best advice I can give to anyone is to get involved in anything and everything. I joined the university’s swimming club, despite never swimming more than 100m in my life, and made some great friends.

Julia Fearn-Wannan: University of Edinburgh (Semesters 2, 2009 and 1, 2010)The city is the most picturesque place imaginable. It’s small enough to be able to walk everywhere, yet big enough to have everything you would expect a city to contain.
Rebekah Oldfield: University of Edinburgh (Semesters 2, 2009 and 1, 2010)The University of Edinburgh is perhaps the core of the city. Students dominate the south of Edinburgh and almost every store offers year-round discounts to students.

James Mulligan: University of Sheffield (Semester 2 / 2009)Sheffield is a real student city and you'll never have nothing to do, with most places offering student discounts. The city itself is reasonably cheap with a reasonable variety of shops with good public transport servicing the city.
Shaun Lee: University of Sheffield (Semester 2/2008)It doesn’t matter where you choose to go; you’re going to have a blast of a time.
