UQ Program: Bachelors of Business Management/ Science

As I was nearing the end of my Bachelor of Business Management/ Science degree at UQ I decided to undertake a semester on exchange as it was always something I dreamed of doing.  I would highly recommend studying at McGill University in Canada as Montreal is such an amazing city and the people are very friendly (even if you can’t speak French- like me).  Also places like Toronto, Quebec City and New York are only a few hours away.  Studying in the fall semester was great as I was able to experience the great warm weather in September and I was still able to experience the snow in early December.

In terms of academics I found the workload similar to UQ however doing five third and fourth year psychology subjects can be challenging as there are a lot of readings to do before each class for each subject.  So try not to get behind with your readings because it can be hard to catch up.
I am so glad I was able to study at McGill as I not only was able to meet so many amazing people from all around the world but I was also able to study at one of the best universities in the world (known as the Harvard of Canada).  I feel that going on exchange is something everyone should do as it was one of the best experiences of my life and I will always treasure the amazing time I had on exchange and will always cherish the great friendships I made whilst on exchange.

My Top 5 tips/ things to see and do in Montreal:
1. Join MISN- it is a McGill group for international students that organise parties and trips to New York, Toronto and Boston and it is a great way to meet other exchange students.
2. Visit Quebec City- I was only able to spend a few hours in Quebec City but it was so beautiful and very French
3. Try Poutine- It’s a mixture of chips, cheese curd and gravy which sounds disgusting but is actually delicious
4. See a Hockey Match
5. Check out the great restaurants, bars and clubs along St Laurent
