Student Visa Information


Please find below the list of ORIGINAL documents students must take in personally to the Honorary Consul in Brisbane, Mrs. Kathryn Hermosilla-Silva, in order to apply for a Student Resident Visa for Chile (Whether it is a 6 month or 12 month Visa). Her telephone number is: 3208-8444:

  • Valid passport with which they are travelling
  • Full Birth Certificate
  • Marriage Certificate (if applicable)
  • If naturalised Australian, Certificate of Australian Citizenship
  • Original letter from the Education Institution in Chile (Eg: School, University, Technical College, etc) indicating they have been enrolled and for what length of time.
  • Original letter from Education Institution in Australia supporting their application
  • Health Certificate (Enclosed form must be completed by any G.P.)
  • Police Certificate (Enclosed form must be taken to nearest Police Station). This certificate takes approximately 2 weeks to issue and is generally mailed directly to the Chilean Consulate by the Police Service.
  • Three passport size photographs.
  • Visa fee: For Australian passport holders: A$589.00. Method of payment: Australia Post Money Order or Bank cheque in the name of "Consulate General of Chile". Please note: The Visa fee changes month by month depending on the rate of exchange. Please ask the students to check with this Consulate General before presenting their documents.
  • Two pre-paid express post envelopes.

The documents are posted to the Consulate General in Sydney by the Honorary Consul listed above. If the application is complete, it takes approximately one week to issue the Visa. Once the visa is stamped in your passport, you must enter Chile within 3 months.
