My Program

I am currently studying a Bachelor of Business Management majoring in Human Resource Management and I just completed my third year.

Academic Experience

I really enjoyed studying at Queens, it was different from UQ but still it was amazing. Firstly, all of the classes are a LOT smaller – in my largest class there were about 50 people in it. All of my professors knew my name and knew that I was an exchange student and if we ever ran into each other outside of class, you would always stop for a short conversation!

Personal Experience

From going on exchange I have made some of the best friends that I could have ever asked for! I am now friends with people from all over the world and I have places to stay in a lot of countries. I was fortunate enough to be able to travel around Canada namely to Montreal, Toronto, Rocky Mountains and New York.

Expenses

Firstly, Canada is cheaper than Australia but when budgeting you do need to keep in mind that you will be doing a lot more of going out, eating out, travelling and shopping in general than you would at home. However, in Kingston rent is very expensive and living in residency is the most expensive rent there is so keep that in mind when you are choosing somewhere to live.

Accommodation

I lived in a student share house with seven other girls from China, Canada and Scotland. I organised it after I arrived in Kingston with the help of the QUIC student housing website, Admittedly, I arrived a lot earlier then most of the other exchange students so I had a few options.

5 Top Tips

  • Only buy coffee from Common Ground (commonly known as CoGro),
  • Pack as light as possible – you can always buy what you forget!
  • Live with as many people as possible
  • Meet the people from your home university going on exchange with you before you leave!
  • Meet as many different people as possible!
