Fields of Study Available:

 Course offerings in English are very limited. Students should have a B2/C1 level of German proficiency in order to take courses in German.

UQ students MUST HAVE at least #6 UQ units worth of General Electives available to study at Freiburg as course profiles are unavailable for study plan approval prior to exchange.

The language teaching centre at Freiburg offers two types of courses.
  • German language courses during the semester – free for exchange students, but need to sign up early as places fill quickly. Students should sign up as soon as the acceptance letter is received. Language and culture courses are available as well.
  • Intensive German language courses before the semester begins – run in August, September or April. Each course is 4 weeks long and costs approximately 800 euro which includes the accommodation.

Foreign language courses (other than German) offerred at the SLI (Language Institute) are not covered by the exchange agreement.

Students studying German language must sign up to the clases as soon as possible after acceptance by Freiburg as places fill quickly.

Housing guaranteed for exchange students if application is received on time.

NOTE: As of Winter Semester 2010, all visiting international exchange students will be required to obtain German health insurance (public or private). Exemptions from this will NO LONGER be granted.
