
Tuition Fees and Student Contributions

Tuition fees to host institution: As an exchange student, you pay no tuition fees to your host university. However, some host institutions have a mandatory fee for Student Services and/or public transportation concessions. For more information about these fees, please see the individual host university web pages on the 'Where can I study?" page on this website. Tuition fees to UQ: As an exchange student, you remain liable for tuition fees or student contributions (HECS) at UQ depending on your citizenship status (see below). You will be charged 8 units (a standard full-time load) for each semester on exchange, regardless of the number of units granted towards your Australian citizens and Australian permanent residents with a Humanitarian visa will continue as Commonwealth Supported students and will have their student contribution (HECS) calculated at the Band 1 (Arts) rate.
